FishTime Privacy Policy

FishTime is a fishing-water discovery and forecast app provided by MadeByQuick. This policy covers the FishTime Android and iOS apps and the FishTime API. For privacy questions or requests, contact geraldquick@madebyquick.com.

In brief: FishTime uses your location, if you permit it, to find nearby waters. Your coordinates and searches are sent to our API to answer your requests. Favorites and preferences are stored on your device. We do not require an account or include advertising or analytics SDKs in the current apps.

Information FishTime uses

• Location and map area. With your permission, the app accesses your approximate or precise device location while you use it. It sends coordinates to the FishTime API to find the nearest water and waters in a map area. Moving the map also sends its center and search radius to the API. FishTime does not request background-location permission. You can decline location access and search manually instead.
• Searches and selected waters. Text you enter into water search is sent to the FishTime API. If the app needs to resolve a place name, the device's platform geocoding or map-search service may receive that place query and return coordinates. The app then uses those coordinates to search nearby waters. Requests for a selected water, its forecast, depth information, and images also go to the API or the content host shown by the app.
• On-device choices. FishTime stores your selected water, favorites, and unit preference on your device. The app uses your device's language setting to display supported translations. The iOS app also caches some API responses on-device to show recent results when the network is unavailable; it accepts cached responses for up to seven days. Android does not currently cache forecasts for offline use. Your operating system's backup settings may include locally stored app data.
• Basic connection and support information. Our API and hosting systems process information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as an IP address, request time, requested endpoint, language, app version or user agent, response status, and a generated request ID. The API's application-level request logs record the matched route, status, and duration, but omit raw query strings containing coordinates or search terms. If you email us, we receive the information you provide in your message.

How we use this information

We use it to find waters, provide fishing conditions and forecasts, display maps and depth information, remember your choices on your device, respond to support requests, and maintain the security and reliability of the service. We do not use your location or searches to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information.

Other services and disclosures

Our cloud-hosting providers process API traffic on our behalf. On Android, map style and tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap; its requests can reveal the area being viewed and ordinary connection information. On iOS, maps and place search use Apple MapKit and are subject to Apple Maps & Privacy. On Android, place-name lookup uses the geocoding service available on your device, whose provider can vary. If you choose “Open in Maps” or follow an external source link, the destination app or site handles that visit under its own privacy policy. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users.

Retention and deletion

The FishTime API uses coordinates and search terms to answer requests; it does not store those raw values in the FishTime application database or its application-level request logs. Operational connection and diagnostic records may be retained by our hosting systems for security and troubleshooting for as long as needed for those purposes. Your selected water, favorites, preferences, and any iOS response cache remain on your device until you remove them, clear app data, uninstall the app, or your operating system removes cached data. Expired iOS cache entries are not used as fallback, although the files may remain until cleared by the operating system or app removal. Device backups are controlled by your operating-system provider. We keep support correspondence only as needed to respond and meet applicable obligations.

You can remove favorites in the app, change or reset your selected water, revoke location access in device settings, and clear the app's data or uninstall it. To ask about or request deletion of information held by our service, email geraldquick@madebyquick.com. Because FishTime has no user accounts, we may need details about your request to locate any relevant operational records.

Security

The production apps connect to the FishTime API over HTTPS. We limit collection to information needed for the features above and use access controls for service infrastructure. No transmission or storage method is completely secure.

Age and international use

FishTime is intended for people aged 16 and older. If you believe someone under 16 has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review the request. The app is available in multiple regions, and service providers may process information outside your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The updated page will show a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
